This role is embedded with the Chief People Officer (CPO) Office within the People & Culture (P&C) function whilst working closely with the UNSW's Internal Communications and Brand teams, responsible for connecting the University with its core stakeholders, managing communication to both internal stakeholders and external players.
Why your role Matters:
In the newly established role of People & Culture Communications Manager, you'll provide a trusted advisory service to our P&C function, shaping and delivering messaging on UNSW's P&C core activities.
As an internal communications specialist, you'll primarily oversee P&C communications to our diverse staff audience, ensuring clarity, consistency and impact. Embedded within the CPO Office, you will play a key role in streamlining how we communicate and support staff in navigating important University updates, including enterprise bargaining, organisational change, policy reform, compliance requirements and staff experience.
Reporting to the Executive Officer (People & Culture) and collaborating with UNSW's Internal Communications and Brand teams, you'll play a central role in connecting the University with its staff, elevating the visibility of important P&C team updates through internal channels ensuring open, informative and cohesive messaging.
Your day-to-day focuses includes:
- Driving the development and implementation of a comprehensive, human-centred P&C communication strategy.
- Delivering high-level strategic communications advice and direction to the Chief People Officer and P&C Executive Team.
- Crafting clear, consistent and professional communications, including writing and editing for key P&C stakeholders.
- Leading the maturity of key messaging frameworks, communication plans, and stakeholder engagement strategies that makes complex information accessible and digestible to our staff.
- Managing a communications calendar to coordinate and streamline messaging across all P&C portfolios and projects.
- Partnering with UNSW's Internal Communications team to elevate clarity, and cohesion of P&C messaging.
- Enhancing UNSW's communications through considered analysis and review, ensuring fit-for-purpose design and delivery.
Who you are: We're looking for a stand-out communicator with significant experience in designing human- centred internal communication frameworks and overseeing corporate communications management, alongside the following skills & experience:
- A relevant tertiary qualification with extensive experience, or equivalent knowledge gained through a combination of education, training and experience, ideally in HR, higher education, or other complex environments.
- Proven experience providing high-level communications advice and shaping communications at a strategic level.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and delivering fit-for-purpose change and communications strategies that simplify complexity, particularly in relation to policy, governance, pay, or compliance.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a people-oriented approach and the ability to distil complex information into clear, engaging messages for diverse audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively across all levels of the University and with external partners.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within tight deadlines.
- Experience in employer branding, staff engagement campaigns, and communications that enhance organisational culture and reputation.
- Experience applying human-centred design principles to communication development and delivery.
