Harmony Home - Youth Support Worker (Part-Time)





Job Type: Part-Time Hourly (guaranteed 20 hours per week as best suits the program)

Reports to: Youth Homes Supervisor/Manager

Responsibilities: The mandate is to empower the clientele to make positive choices that will help lead them toward self-sufficiency while ensuring contract obligations are met.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a good role model and demonstrate and practice a healthy lifestyle;
  • Must have experience working with teenage youth;
  • Must be flexible and willing to learn;
  • Must have First Aid & CPR Certificate/willing to be trained;
  • Have knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel;
  • Applicant must maintain strict confidentiality and maintain building security;
  • All applicants must have a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver's license;
  • Individuals without a Saskatchewan Class 5 need not apply; 
  • Posses a reliable vehicle. 
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with Youth, Staff, and Management;
  • Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively in an oral and written form;
  • Must pass YWCA Security Clearance with a successful vulnerable sector and criminal background check;
  • Caring and compassionate attitude;

Remuneration: $23.08 per hour

Duties:

  • Help identify career goals, and barriers to employment and assist youth with such matters as job readiness skills, job search strategies, writing resumes, and preparing for job interviews;
  • Maintain a safe home environment;
  • Prepare and cook for 10 or more youths;
  • Maintain an accurate daily log on day to day business;
  • Plan fun & educational activities for teenage youth;
  • Support and guide the residents, teaching them responsibility as they transition into adulthood/independence;
  • Must be a good role model;
  • Maintain building security;
  • Ensure nightly cleaning duties are complete;
  • Ensure major housecleaning duties are complete as well as normal everyday cleaning/chores;
  • Attend staff meetings;
  • Provide support and advocacy to the residents and clients of the YWCA;
  • Provide feedback to the Manager regarding clients;
  • Provide feedback to the Manager on major issues and incident reports;
  • Some administrative duties;
  • Attend to crises as they arise during non-office hours. Contact the Manager in the event of a major crisis;
  • Prioritize work, attending to the most urgent needs of the clientele first;
  • Work unsupervised;
  • Maintain confidentiality;
  • Any other duties as requested;

Probation: All YWCA Prince Albert positions contain a three-month probationary period.
