Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Food Safety and Quality Audit, the Supplier Quality Specialist will be responsible for suppliers' quality and food safety approval program for all new and existing packaging and ingredients items, supporting Procurement and Sourcing team needs. Working closely with R&D, Sourcing and Quality Assurance Program teams, he/she will be responsible for communication with new suppliers' quality representatives to ensure that all of Wonderbrands Food Safety requirements are met during approval process and all of the paperwork and audits for existing suppliers are maintained and up to date.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicating to all new and existing Wonderbrands suppliers of packaging, ingredients and service providers regarding food safety/quality requirements as per current Wonderbrands food safety program.
  • Assess all, supplier's paperwork to validate and minimize any risks with new materials.
  • Uploading supplier information into SAP & other tools, including those received thru food safety email
  • Maintaining contract service providers required documentation
  • Keeping food safety documents up to date with any new / changes to materials (thru records and online systems).
  • Assist QA with performing on site supplier visits for higher risk suppliers when approval is required.
  • Validating existing supplier paperwork and documenting it internally for further reference by other teams.
  • Communicating new material approvals and changes to all departments as required.
  • Obtaining all necessary knowledge and training in supplier food safety and risk assessment as required by the industry, to stay current on all requirements
  • Updating all existing supplier's paperwork and necessary audits on timely manner to ensure compliance to BRC audits as well as Wonderbrands food safety programs.
  • Assist the Quality Assurance department on all audits (BRC, Halal, RSPO, Organic etc.). 
  • Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of new supplier approval requests.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field is required
  • 2-3 years' experience in food safety with a strong knowledge of food safety (BRC, HACCP) programs, GMP programs and QA systems. Work experience in supplier evaluation and analysis, specific to the food industry, is an asset.
  • Exceptional communication skills showing ability to serve as liaison between cross-functional internal and external teams.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, the ability to work well with others; working knowledge of manufacturing processes and attention to detail are critical
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Blackbox, SAP)
