Our dynamic Geomatics team is looking for a
Crew Chief
in Cold Lake
, AB and travel is required to other provinces
. As the successful candidate you are organized and highly collaborative, with strong communication skills and an infectious positivity that impacts and motivates all team members. You have a strong ability to operate equipment and field tools, with a healthy respect for the great outdoors and the timeline of the task at hand.

What you will do:

  • Manage and perform field survey work with the support of Survey Assistants
  • Liaise with Project Managers to coordinate field survey work, review and manage project budgets, schedules, priorities, and survey methodology
  • Liaise with client field representatives and landowners and be a brand ambassador for GeoVerra
  • Prepare field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data in required formats for different audiences
  • Provide guidance, training and mentorship to Survey Assistants
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, efficient field processes and procedures and the innovative use of new technology.
  • Proactively participate in and support the GeoVerra safety program
  • Complete office technical survey tasks as required and other duties as assigned

What you will bring:

  • Diploma/Degree in a post-secondary program related to surveying and geomatics or an equivalent experience
  • Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software such as GPS and Total Stations (Including Robotic)
  • Experience of Trimble equipment and software, laser scanning and line locating considered an asset
  • 3-5 years of experience in a Survey Crew Chief role completing construction and legal surveys is required
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a field environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the capacity to produce accurate and legible field notes
  • The ability to develop and motivate survey staff and work well in a team environment
  • An aptitude for delivering projects on time and budget
  • A valid driver's license and can provide a clean driver's abstract; and
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as per the limits provided in the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace

Job Conditions:

  • Out-of-town work (possible shift work)
  • Ability to carry, lift and push up to 50lbs on a regular basis
  • Night shift may be required
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
