This is a full-time position with a salary range of $95,000 to $110,000 per annum. Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience, and internal parity.

RISK MANAGEMENT AND SAFETY MANAGER

The Risk Management and Safety Manager is an integral part of the Business Office team responsible for overseeing school-wide programs, to identify and manage risks to ensure the safety of students, employees, and visitors.

This role is responsible for identifying, evaluating, mitigating, and monitoring the School’s operational and strategic risk. Working with the Chief Financial and Operating Officer (CFOO), and members of the Senior leadership Team, the Risk Management and Safety Manager will develop risk management tools, practices, and policies that analyze and report enterprise risks and will manage risks according to an enterprise risk management framework.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial and Operating Officer (CFOO), responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Risk Management

Establish and chair a Risk Management Committee, including the development and maintenance of Committee terms of reference;
Maintain Risk Management Policy and Procedures including roles and responsibilities, risk identification, risk assessment, risk tolerance, monitoring, and incident reporting requirements;
Oversee general risk management for field trips and tours and ensure that a comprehensive risk assessment has been completed for each extended and overnight trip that students and staff participate in;
Work with Department leaders and risk owners to identify risks, rate risks, identify mitigation strategies, rate post-mitigation risks and identify action items;
Maintain a school-wide Risk Register and Risk Management Plan;
With input from CFOO, develop tri-annual reporting for the Board Committees;
Lead project initiatives, staff training, and research activities for individual, stand-alone projects.

Insurance

Under direction of the CFOO, coordinate the annual insurance renewal process and manage insurance claims;
Provide support to the CFOO to ensure relevant and adequate insurance coverage is in place;
Acts as the primary liaison for insurance needs related to inspections, information requests, and certificates of insurance, keeping the CFOO informed of issues.

Emergency Management

Develop, implement, and maintain an Emergency Management Plan including structure, roles, and responsibilities of staff, crisis communications protocol, hazard guidelines, and resources;
Review annually the Emergency Response Team, including on-call, and training of all employees in response protocols;
Act as designated emergency contact for on-site staff activities and critical incident/emergency issues during work, or off-duty hours as required;
Liaise with external agencies such as emergency services, RCMP etc., as needed;
Prepare, update, and distribute relevant documentation and communications, and train/inform all employees in response protocols;
Ensure emergency drills are scheduled and conducted as required;
Conduct annual inventory review and oversee replenishment of emergency supplies;
In partnership with the CFOO, develop, implement, and maintain a Business Continuity Plan to minimize the ongoing and long-term impact of a major event;
Remain current in knowledge of best practice in the areas of emergency management.

Safety

Chair the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, including maintaining Committee terms of reference;
Ensure appropriate Occupational First Aid Level 3 staffing numbers for coverage throughout the calendar year;
Ensure effective processes are in place for incident reporting, and track and report incidents to CFOO;
Investigates WorkSafeBC claims and completes reports, in conjunction with HR as appropriate.

Contract Management

Review contracts and provide a risk assessment and recommendations, when required;
At the direction of the CFOO, arrange Memorandums of Understanding external parties.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
Post-secondary education in related business discipline, CRM, CRMP Designation, and RIMS membership preferred;
Valid OFA level 3 certification, or prepared to acquire certification within six months of employment;
