Who we are:

WaterBridge Equipment is a private-owned ferry operator company based in Francois Lake, British Columbia, Canada. As contractors to the Ministry of Transportation and Transit, we are responsible for the safe ferry passage of people in the communities surrounding Francois Lake in BC. Our ferry crews are Transport Canada trained and certified. We pride ourselves on the impact we make on the local economies in which we operate.

Marine Master or Mate, Auxiliary

Under the direction of the Marine Manager, the Marine Master and Mate is in charge of, and responsible for the shift operation and operational maintenance of a federally regulated vehicle and passenger ferry. This includes the training and supervision of licensed and unlicensed members of the Deck and Engine crew, carrying out such duties as emergency drills, seamanship duties, loading and unloading vehicles and passengers, securing the vessel, preparing to sail, and other shipboard and shore duties. This position is located in Francois Lake, BC.

Qualifications

Minimum Master's or Chief Mate Certificate required by Transport Canada pursuant to Canada Shipping Act, 2001, and amendments thereto.

  • Must provide a valid Marine Medical Certificate
  • Must hold a valid BC Driver's License – Class 5
  • Is a team player with an approachable demeanor
  • Good written and oral communication skills a must
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to emergency situations calmly, effectively and efficiently

Note: We are searching for a Relief Master or Mate to work for the summer 2026. The schedule is 7 on and 7 off.
