Reporting to the Lead Surveyor or Superintendent, the Surveyor assists the existing project team with various site management and coordination tasks:

  • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports in order to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed.
  • Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
  • Record the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions.
  • Prepare or supervise preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys.
  • Plan and conduct ground surveys designed to establish baselines, elevations, and other geodetic measurements.
  • Coordinate findings with the work of engineering and architectural personnel, clients, and others concerned with projects.
  • Adjust surveying instruments in order to maintain their accuracy.
  • Establish fixed points for use in making maps, using geodetic and engineering instruments.
  • Analyze survey objectives and specifications in order to prepare survey proposals or to direct others in survey proposal preparation.
  • Develop criteria for survey methods and procedures.
  • Collaborate with subcontracted BCLS on structure monitoring and legal survey tasks.
  • Direct subcontracted aerial and bathymetric surveys of specified geographical areas.
Requirements
  • Completion of post-secondary studies or applicable training;
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience in a similar position;
  • Good knowledge of Job Site Health and Safety rules and regulations;
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite, MS Project and AutoCAD;
  • Project is located in the Campbell River area;
  • Bilingual (an asset), but proficiency in English language with excellent communication skills (written and verbal) is required.
