As a Business Development Associate, you will play a vital role in expanding MCN's presence across Canada's innovation economy. Working closely with sales leadership, marketing, and technical consultants, you'll be responsible for identifying, engaging, and qualifying high-potential clients in tech, media, clean tech, and life sciences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct cold outreach (calls, emails, social selling) to generate and pre-qualify leads
  • Establish and nurture relationships with prospective clients to drive consistent business
  • Pre-assess client eligibility for SR&ED, IDMTC and related funding programs
  • Familiar with consultative sales processes
  • Attend industry events, webinars and conferences to expand market reach
  • Collaborate with marketing on campaign alignment, messaging and outreach strategies
  • Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities and activities in Salesforce
  • Stay informed on government funding trends and contribute market insights to internal teams

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in outbound B2B sales or lead generation (SaaS, consulting or innovation sectors preferred)
  • Proven success in cold outreach and building a sales pipeline from scratch
  • Strong understanding of business development, consultative sales, demand generation and top-of-funnel strategies
  • Knowledge of AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt messaging across stakeholders
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a high level of initiative, curiosity and resourcefulness
  • Experience working with startups, venture-backed companies or within innovation hubs
  • Comfortable using CRM systems and sales engagement tools
  • Bachelor's degree or college in a business or STEM field preferred

* Bonus - Familiarity with Canadian government funding programs such as SR&ED and/or IRAP

First year On Target Earnings: $85,000 to $100,000
