We are seeking a Field Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day field execution, drive productivity, support our site leadership teams, and uphold RK4's quality, safety, and efficiency standards.
Position Summary
The Field Operations Manager (FOM) is responsible for overseeing field crews, coordinating manpower and equipment resources, ensuring compliance with project schedules, and supporting effective on-site execution across multiple projects. The FOM works closely with Project Managers, Foremen, and Senior Leadership to ensure field operations are consistent, efficient, and aligned with company standards and client expectations.
This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and a deep understanding of commercial construction operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesField Leadership & Oversight
- Provide day-to-day leadership to Foremen, Lead Hands, and field crew members.
- Conduct regular jobsite visits across Ontario to monitor progress, quality, and safety.
- Support on-site decision-making and remove barriers impacting productivity.
- Ensure consistent execution of installation methods, project plans, and quality standards.
Project & Resource Coordination
- Coordinate manpower allocations across all active projects.
- Assist Project Managers in developing and maintaining project schedules.
- Monitor daily production, identify delays, and implement corrective actions.
- Support planning and execution of out-of-town operations, accommodations, and logistics.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote a strong safety culture aligned with OHSA and internal safety policies.
- Ensure crews follow safe work procedures, PPE requirements, and hazard controls.
- Review incident reports, support investigations, and implement corrective measures.
- Ensure all employees follow RK4's policies, procedures, and site-specific rules.
Quality & Performance Management
- Conduct quality checks and ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and manufacturer requirements.
- Identify performance issues and support coaching, mentoring, or corrective action.
- Lead toolbox talks, performance reviews, and training initiatives for field staff.
- Support ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 compliance for field operations.
Communication & Reporting
- Act as the primary operational link between field crews and Project Managers.
- Conduct daily communication with Foremen and weekly updates with management.
- Provide detailed reporting on manpower, progress, delays, and field conditions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of new systems or processes.
Qualifications & ExperienceRequired
- Minimum 5–7 years experience in commercial or industrial construction.
- Previous experience as a Foreman, Superintendent, or Field Operations Lead.
- Strong understanding of steel erection, cladding, framing, and general construction sequencing.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel throughout Ontario.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
- Experience with pre-engineered building systems (Butler, Varco Pruden, Behlen, etc.).
- Knowledge of Ontario Building Code, OHSA, and construction safety requirements.
- Experience with scheduling tools, project management systems, and digital reporting platforms (Sinc, Buildxact, Teams/SharePoint).
- Certifications such as Working at Heights, Aerial Work Platform, First Aid, or COR/ISO training.

Pay: $62,400.00-$81,120.00 per year
