Job Description:

The Small Engine Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, inspection, and repair of the resort's light vehicles, small engines, and related equipment. This role supports year-round mountain operations and contributes directly to safe, reliable guest and staff transportation. This position is ideal for mechanically inclined individuals seeking hands-on work in a unique mountain environment. The successful candidate will work within the Vehicle Maintenance Department and report to the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair small engines (gas and diesel), hydraulic equipment, and light vehicles.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, including fluid checks, lubrication, and routine adjustments.
  • Conduct regular and unscheduled inspections of wheeled vehicles, over-snow equipment, and stationary engines.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and fluid-system faults.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, parts usage, and projects.
  • Monitor and track parts inventory; assist with ordering as required.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with resort safety standards and procedures.
  • Contribute to a clean, organized, and safety-focused workshop environment.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of small engines and mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and computer-based systems.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically active work.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of technical training or certification in small engines, mechanics, or a related field (required).
  • Previous experience in small engine or mechanical repair is an asset.
  • Knowledge of vehicle and equipment safety standards.
  • Understanding of workplace safety requirements and procedures.
  • First Aid certification is an asset.
  • Intermediate/advanced ski or snowboard ability is an asset.

7:00am - 5:30pm
