Job Overview

As a Payroll Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our organization. You will be the go-to expert for payroll management, utilizing various accounting software and systems to maintain compliance and enhance operational efficiency. Your attention to detail and analytical skills will contribute to a smooth payroll process, while your collaborative spirit will help foster strong relationships with team members across departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly/biweekly payroll accurately and on time for union and non-union employees.
  • Manage all payroll-related data entry, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with Local 721 collective agreement, union dues, benefit remittances, and pension contributions.
  • Prepare and submit monthly union reports and remittances (Local 721).
  • Maintain employee records and respond to payroll-related inquiries.
  • Collaborate with accounting to support reporting and reconciliations.
  • Stay current with union rules, wage schedules, and legislative updates.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Direct experience with Local 721 payroll is required.
  • Strong knowledge of collective bargaining agreements, remittances, and prevailing wage structures.
  • Proficient with QuickBooks.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
