Tim Hortons is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented CPG Quality Assurance (QA) Manager to lead the quality oversight for our rapidly expanding Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) portfolio. This role is responsible for ensuring that all CPG products—ranging from coffee, ready-to-drink beverages, baked goods, and shelf-stable items—meet the brand's high standards for safety, regulatory compliance, and consumer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive quality leader with expertise in food safety, manufacturing processes, and regulatory standards across North America. The role requires cross-functional collaboration with internal R&D, procurement, supply chain, and external manufacturing and packaging partners.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Program Management
- Lead and manage the implementation and maintenance of quality systems for all CPG product categories.
- Develop and enforce product specifications, testing protocols, and QA/QC procedures across multiple manufacturing partners.
- Oversee audits and certification programs (GFSI, SQF, HACCP, etc.) for third-party co-manufacturers and suppliers.
Supplier & Co-Manufacturer Oversight
- Approve and monitor manufacturing partners, ensuring they meet Tim Hortons' quality, food safety, and regulatory expectations.
- Conduct regular site visits and third-party audits to ensure adherence to standards.
- Review and validate CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Actions) from vendors.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all CPG products comply with CFIA, FDA, and other regulatory bodies.
- Monitor complaints and lead RCA and problem solving with Cross Functional teams and suppliers
- Lead quality risk assessments and manage product incident response, including root cause analysis and recalls, if necessary.
Product Lifecycle Support
- Partner with R&D and commercialization teams to ensure quality and safety are considered from product ideation to launch.
- Participate in sensory panels and shelf-life evaluations.
- Support packaging reviews from a quality perspective.
Continuous Improvement
- Monitor quality KPIs such as customer complaints, defect rates, and lab testing results; identify trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead cross-functional quality reviews and improvement projects.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field.
- Minimum years experience in a QA/QC role within the food manufacturing or CPG industry.
- Experience managing co-manufacturers and external supply chain partners.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (FDA, CFIA), HACCP, GFSI standards.
- Proficiency with quality management systems, lab testing methods, and data analytics.
- Experience with product commercialization and quality systems integration.
- Strong statistical analysis skills and aptitude to interpret technical data to inform decision making
- Food Manufacturing Experience and Technical knowledge in the cpg categories (coffee, ready-to-drink beverages, baked goods, and shelf stable)
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
- Ability to travel approx. 30% of the time
