Overview
The Supervisor, Anti-Human Trafficking Housing, plays a crucial role in ensuring that survivors of human trafficking have access to low-barrier and specialized transitional housing. This position is responsible for managing and overseeing the work of all Youth Workers, facilitating case management team meetings, and providing supervision and coaching to staff. In addition, the Supervisor handles participant referrals, , and manages crisis and emergency situations related to participants, staff, the facility, community partners, and neighbours. By fostering a safe and supportive environment, the Supervisor helps meet the immediate and basic needs of participants while empowering them to build their futures.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the direct management of the daily shift and the direct supervision of Youth Worker team
- Co-coordinating and monitoring training of new team members.
- Overseeing the safety, security, contents and any emergency situations within the entire building on overnights, and weekends.
- Ensuring any threats to the safety of our youth are properly managed by staff.
- Conducting interviews of potential employees, evaluating them on observation shifts and participating in the selection process.
- Ensuring that staff adhere to Covenant House's policies and procedures.
- Managing and monitoring his/her team's work concerning intakes, assessments and discharges.
- Ensuring case management issues are appropriately addressed.
- Overseeing youth discharges and admits (after appeals) to the residential program.
- Making recommendations for appropriate case action plans.
- Managing petty cash float, tokens and cab vouchers.
- Ensuring they and their staff are engaged with the youth and role model, the Trauma Informed Approach to care.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must have degree/undergraduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child and Youth Care, Sociology or equivalent
- Experience with inputting data onto payroll and scheduling systems
- Experience working in transitional housing setting and an understanding of Housing First for Youth
- Minimum 2 year's experience in a supervisory role is an asset
- Experience working with survivors of human trafficking is an asset
- Experience with shift scheduling systems is an asset
- Knowledge of adolescent developmental theory and specific issues related to street youth.
- First Aid, CPR and basic computer skills an asset.
- Ability to identify, assess and intervene differentially with youth in crisis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of community resources.
