About Megaport
We're not your typical tech company – and we don't want to be. Megaport is the global leader in Network as a Service (NaaS), and has transformed the way businesses connect to the cloud, data centers, and each other. We're publicly listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and partnered with the biggest names in tech like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, IBM, and more. Headquartered in Brisbane with a crew of over 350 people spread across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas, our employees enjoy an environment that is collaborative, supportive, and (actually) fun.
Our Team Culture
We're a team of problem solvers, pixel pushers, code slingers, and cloud fanatics. Culture is more than a poster on the wall here – collaboration beats hierarchy, curiosity fuels our growth, and everyone's voice matters. We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. We work across time zones to execute on our global vision, trust each other to get things done, and never compromise our values for commercial gain. Most importantly, we place our customers at the center of everything we do.
The Role
Megaport is looking for an energetic, independent, self managing Software QA Engineer to create and run manual and automated testing on the in-house developed software systems. There are many active software projects ongoing, so this is a great opportunity to get involved at the requirements gathering stage to ensure high quality delivery from the very start. We are looking for someone who leaps out of bed and says "give me your API, and I shall break it, so you can make it better"; someone who doesn't stop at making sure the UI is functional, but also that it is usable, performant and accessible. The right person will champion automation, not just "automate all the things", but considerate and thoughtful automation.
We are only seeking candidates located in Alberta or British Columbia.
What You'll Be Doing
- The primary focus of this role is to work as a member of the development team to maintain and improve the quality of the systems being deployed
- Understand requirements, specifications, and how Megaport products work in general as the basis for formulating effective automated and manual tests
- Create and maintain comprehensive and effective test plans and test cases
- Design, implement and maintain automated test suites
- Stay up-to-date with new testing tools and test strategies
What We Are Looking For
- Extensive experience testing web applications and APIs.
- 5+ years experience in software quality assurance.
- Extensive experience with applying QA within agile (lower case a) delivery.
- A fast-learner with self-drive, initiative and inquisitiveness that can pick up a task or project and drive it relentlessly to completion.
- Comprehensive experience with testing tools / frameworks like Postman, Cucumber, Playwright or Katalon.
- Productive in one or two scripting languages and/or testing frameworks.
- Demonstrated technical capability (such as reading code, exploring a relational database).
- Experience with Java, JIRA, Confluence, Git, Continuous integration tools.
- An agile mindset with the ability to work in a transparent and collaborative manner.
- Knowledge of Telco and networking industry products and processes will be well regarded.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
What We Offer
- Flexible working environment – a remote-first culture with coworking options available
- Generous leave plans – including 4 weeks of paid annual leave, parental leave, birthday leave, and a purchased annual leave program
- Health and wellness support – through a wellness allowance and employee wellbeing initiatives
- Comprehensive learning support – generous study and training allowance plus 5 days of paid study leave
- Creative, modern workspaces – designed to inspire when you're not working remotely
- Motivated, inclusive team – work alongside industry experts and fresh talent
- Recognition programs – celebrate achievements wit
