Job Summary:

The Electrical Purchaser is responsible for sourcing, ordering, and maintaining an inventory of parts and components required for production, ensuring material availability and avoiding shortages. The role also involves monitoring and following up on orders, managing supplier relationships, and supporting project timelines. Inventory includes electrical, mechanical, and consumable components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project managers and the purchasing team to determine requirements for all manufacturing projects.
  • Issue purchase orders and monitor them with vendors to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Order components for assembly to meet production deadlines.
  • Establish and maintain a critical component inventory to prevent shortages.
  • Work with current suppliers and sub-contractors while sourcing and cultivating new supplier relationships.
  • Search for and establish new suppliers offering competitive pricing.
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for raw materials, supplies, services, and equipment.
  • Manage open purchase orders, including expediting when needed.
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure processes align with organizational needs.
  • Escalate supply issues in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with Project Management when supply issues may affect delivery timelines.
  • Monitor changes in the supply base and proactively manage potential impacts on future supply.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in supply chain, purchasing, or expediting.
  • Experience with Visual software is an asset.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects concurrently.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage high volumes and tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Results-oriented, able to evaluate information from multiple sources to make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop strategic solutions.
  • Well-organized and able to balance multiple competing priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Works effectively both independently and within a team environment.
