About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and timely payments to vendors, and maintaining financial records in accordance with GAAP standards. This role requires strong analytical skills and proficiency in various accounting software.

Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable transactions, including invoice verification and payment processing
  • Maintain accurate records of all accounts payable activities, ensuring compliance with SOX regulations
  • Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Paychex, or Workday for data entry and financial reporting
  • Assist with month-end closing activities, including journal entries and general ledger reconciliation
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper coding of expenses and adherence to budgetary constraints
  • Support payroll management processes as needed, including data entry for HRIS systems like ADP or Kronos
  • Provide analysis of accounts payable metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement

Education & Experience:

  • Proven experience in accounts payable or related accounting roles
  • Familiarity with financial concepts including debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and general ledger accounting
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, PeopleSoft, UltiPro, or Ceridian is preferred
  • Experience in public accounting or non-profit accounting is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data effectively
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated
  • Fluent in English
