The Opportunity
We are looking for an HR Advisor to join our growing team. Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Advisor will play a key role in supporting the full scope of human resources activities, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training, international mobility, reporting, and compliance.
What You Will Do
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Manage end-to-end recruitment for hourly, skilled trades, and salaried positions.
- Develop job postings, screen candidates, coordinate interviews, and support hiring managers.
- Plan and deliver onboarding programs that foster strong integration and engagement.
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Build and maintain positive relationships with employees at all levels.
- Address employee concerns, mediate conflicts, and support a respectful, inclusive workplace.
- Assist in creating and launching employee engagement and recognition initiatives.
Performance Management
- Support supervisors in setting performance goals and conducting evaluations.
- Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on feedback and performance improvement.
Policy Development & Implementation
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures related to compensation, performance, and HR operations.
- Ensure compliance with labour laws and HR best practices.
Training & Development
- Identify training needs and coordinate learning opportunities.
- Support cross-training and upskilling initiatives aligned with business goals.
- Maintain training records and ensure compliance.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Support workplace health and safety programs in collaboration with the EHS Specialist.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation (ESA, OHSA, Human Rights Code).
- Assist with WSIB claims and early/safe return-to-work programs.
International Mobility
- Coordinate immigration processes for international hires, including work permits, visas, and relocation logistics.
- Support employees and liaise with immigration advisors.
HR Administration, Reporting & Analysis
- Administer benefits and assist with payroll coordination.
- Maintain HR systems, metrics, and reporting dashboards.
- Prepare regular and ad hoc HR reports (turnover, absenteeism, headcount, etc.).
What You Bring
- 5+ years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of Ontario labour laws and HR best practices.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in HR reporting and data visualization (Excel, Power BI, etc.).
Assets
- Experience in international mobility or global talent management.
- Startup or high-volume recruitment experience.
- CHRP designation (or actively pursuing).
