Application Developer III – Hybrid (Toronto, ON)

We're seeking an experienced
Application Developer
with strong
Mainframe (COBOL, JCL, SQL)
and
Python
skills to join a hybrid team in
Toronto
. This role supports ongoing
reinsurance system modernization
, helping transition core applications from
Mainframe to Azure/.NET
environments.

About the Project:

You'll be part of a cross-functional team supporting reinsurance operations across North America. The team recently upgraded from a Mainframe-based system to a cloud-enabled Azure version. The developer will work on maintaining both environments, ensuring smooth integration, automation, and data flow during this transition.

What You'll Do:

  • Support and enhance systems migrated from Mainframe to Azure/.NET
  • Develop and maintain COBOL, SQL, and Python-based applications
  • Lead and coordinate with offshore developers
  • Handle operational support, automation, and data integrations

What You Bring:

  • 10+ years in Mainframe & COBOL development
  • Strong Python and SQL development experience
  • Analytical mindset and excellent communication skills
  • Experience leading offshore teams
  • Knowledge of SDLC and change management

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with reinsurance or financial systems
  • Familiarity with C#/.NET (Azure) or TAI systems

Work Setup:


Hybrid – Toronto, ON (2–3 days onsite)


6-month contract with potential extension
