The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is seeking a highly skilled, collaborative, and forward-thinking leader to serve as the Executive Director of Acute Care for Saskatoon. This is a pivotal senior leadership role responsible for providing strategic direction, operational oversight, and visionary guidance for acute care programs across the Saskatoon urban area. The portfolio includes leadership and operational responsibility for Inpatient Medicine and Mental Health, as well as Emergency and Ambulatory Care services at Royal University Hospital (RUH), Saskatoon City Hospital (SCH), and St. Paul's Hospital (SPH).
Reporting to the Vice President of Integrated Saskatoon Health, the Executive Director plays a central role in advancing the SHA's strategic priorities and provincial health-care goals. The successful candidate will lead the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of acute care services, ensuring they are safe, effective, patient-focused, and aligned with system-wide strategies. This includes supporting clinical and operational teams, identifying gaps and improvement opportunities, and developing robust action plans that enhance service quality and system integration.
The Executive Director will champion a culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence. This involves fostering strong relationships with clinical leaders, physicians, system partners, community stakeholders, and other portfolios within the SHA. The role requires exceptional judgment, the ability to navigate complex and evolving health-care environments, and a commitment to transparent, collaborative leadership.
With responsibility for both strategic oversight and day-to-day operational performance, the Executive Director ensures that acute care services operate efficiently, adapt to changing needs, and meaningfully contribute to better health outcomes for patients and families. This includes guiding organizational change, supporting talent development, stewarding resources, and ensuring compliance with provincial standards, policies, and quality frameworks.
