Position Summary:

Family Service Saskatoon is seeking a passionate and community-minded Community Connector to strengthen relationships between individuals, families, and support services across Saskatoon. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building trust, fostering inclusion, and helping people navigate resources that improve their well-being. The Community Connector will work directly with diverse populations to promote awareness of available services, reduce barriers to access, and support community-led initiatives that enhance social connection and resilience. Duties shall be performed in a manner consistent with the overall mission, vision, and values of Family Service Saskatoon. The position reports to the Director of Programs.

Duties include:

1. Community Engagement

  • Build meaningful relationships with individuals, families, and community groups.
  • Actively participate in outreach activities, events, and initiatives across Saskatoon.
  • Identify gaps in service and advocate for community needs.

2. Navigation & Support

  • Help community members access services related to mental health, family support, housing, employment, and more.
  • Provide information, referrals, and follow-up support in a respectful and culturally sensitive manner.

3. Partnership Engagement

  • Collaborate with key partners
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders to support project goals and sustainability.

4. Collaboration

  • Work closely with internal teams and external partners including schools, health services, Indigenous organizations, newcomer agencies, and other community-based organizations.
  • Support collaborative projects that promote inclusion, equity, and community wellness.

5. Promotion & Communication

  • Share information about Family Service Saskatoon programs and services through outreach, social media, and community networks.
  • Assist in developing and distributing promotional materials.

6. Data & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and community interactions.
  • Contribute to program evaluation and reporting.

7. Team Support & Flexibility

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team in a collaborative manner.
  • Perform work outside of regular operating hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Degree in social work, education, community development, or a related field.

Areas of Knowledge:

  • Experience in community outreach, social services, or related fields.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Saskatoon's community landscape and social service systems.
  • Cultural competency and experience working with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools and social media.
  • Lived experience or deep understanding of barriers faced by marginalized communities.
  • Culturally sensitive and adept at working with Indigenous, immigrant, refugee, and newcomer populations.
  • Valid driver's license and have consistent access to a reliable personal vehicle.

This position is a temporary, full-time, in-scope term position to June 30, 2026; with the possibility of extension. Final candidates are required to provide satisfactory criminal record checks including a vulnerable sector search. This position is in-scope, CUPE Local 5316.

Compensation:

Pay range of $4,812.87 to $5,312.50 per month based on a bachelor's degree and related experience.
