Our law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to compose correspondence, brief clients and attorneys on cases, assist at depositions and court hearings as well as perform administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will also have experience with both civil and criminal legal proceedings and will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of Rules of Civil Procedure and Experience in Corporate Law and Immigration Law is an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to lawyers and legal staff.
  • Prepare legal documents, such as briefs and motions.
  • Answer phones and greet clients and visitors.
  • Enter information into computer database.
  • Manage court filing deadlines.
  • Gather information from clients and witnesses.
  • Coordinate fees with the courts.
  • Initial drafting or assisting with drafting pleadings, affidavits, forms, and other documents
  • Preparing trial, settlement, or other briefs
  • Maintaining fact management and other litigation support software systems, for example, CaseMap
  • Diarizing and monitoring deadlines for multiple files
  • Providing support to lawyers for trial, settlement conferences, mediations, or other file activities
  • Providing administrative support, including binding, scanning, and scheduling meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
