We're hiring a skilled, creative and business-minded lawyer (2-5 years post-call) with strong litigation and employment law experience. The ideal candidate is a confident advocate contributing meaningfully to a supportive and collaborative in-house legal team.

In this role, you'll manage a diverse caseload encompassing employment litigation, product liability, personal injury, commercial disputes, debt collection and advocacy before specialized tribunals. You'll report directly to the General Counsel and you'll work closely with our Senior Law Clerk, Legal Operations Specialist, Paralegal and Legal Administrative Assistant. You'll collaborate with senior management and business unit leaders across our dealerships and collision centres.

Here's what you'll deliver

  • Advocacy: Advocate at all levels of courts in Ontario (Superior, Divisional, Court of Appeal) and tribunals (Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, Ontario Labour Relations Board), with a focus on employment litigation, commercial disputes and product liability.
  • Advice and Strategy: Partner with business unit leaders to assess risk early and determine when to settle and when to litigate, and partner with HR on investigations, discipline, terminations, accommodations and other key employment lifecycle matters.
  • Development of the legal function: Help shape how we work by developing precedents, refining processes and contributing to a legal team that's scaling alongside a rapidly growing organization.
  • Training: Prepare and deliver training across the organization on legal risk and compliance.
  • Grow beyond litigation: Get involved in the full spectrum of our work, including corporate transactions, real estate, and compliance when opportunity and interest align.

Qualifications and experience

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent and Law Society of Ontario (LSO) license in good standing
  • 2-5 years post-call litigation experience, preferably with a focus on employment law
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills and experience
  • Proven ability to manage complex cases from inception to resolution, preferably including trial and tribunal experience
  • Exceptional technological proficiency, with demonstrated experience using AI tools to drive efficiency and innovation in legal practice
  • Valid Ontario driver's license an asset

Job Type: Full Time - Permanent

Compensation: $130,000 - $200,000 per year
