Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a specialist in the interpretation and application of health and safety laws, policies, processes, and standards in force in Canada.
  • Recommend strategies to maintain consistency between Ontario and Quebec in terms of applicable policies, standards, and annual objectives/priorities.
  • Serve as a catalyst and expert to promote and maintain a positive prevention culture within the organization.
  • Support managers regarding the deployment and monitoring of prevention programs and activities.
  • Complete monthly reports tracking the organization's health, safety, and well-being performance.
  • Develop appropriate communications on health, safety, and well-being at work, as needed.
  • Identification of dangerous conditions and practices, including risk assessment and development of recommendations.
  • In partnership with the external provider, manage CNESST/WSIB claims.
  • Support managers and health and safety representatives in accident investigations to ensure adequate identification of root causes and application of preventive measures.
  • Coordinate training and various activities related to health, safety, and well-being.
  • Review trends and analyze health, safety, and well-being data to create targeted action plans.
  • Engagement with various regional offices through regular visits and health, safety, and well-being audits.
  • Optimize the self-management processes of local health, safety, and well-being committees.
  • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of health, safety, and well-being plans, policies, and procedures.
  • As part of their employment, employees must take all necessary measures to ensure their health and safety as well as those of their colleagues and the general public. At all times, they must wear available personal protective equipment and comply with health and safety policies, procedures, directives, and instructions issued by Cogeco.
  • The incumbent must always keep in mind that the execution of their work supports Cogeco's ultimate goal of providing excellent service to its current and potential customers, including its internal customers.
  • Assist, as needed, in responding to requests from other functional units and participate in special projects or perform other tasks, as required.

Essential Qualifications
ACADEMIC TRAINING

  • University degree in health and safety, or other related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

Work Experience

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in a health, safety, and well-being role.
  • Experience in a unionized workplace would be an asset.
  • Holding the CRHA/HRPA or safety professional designation title is a significant asset.

SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • Bilingualism (English and French), both oral and written.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated autonomy, ability to take initiative and solve problems independently.
  • Capable of being detail-oriented while demonstrating the ability to analyze and identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Interpersonal skills with a positive and professional attitude towards customer service.
  • Open to change with a willingness to learn and a positive attitude towards work and contribution to teams.
  • Knowledge of Agile concepts is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Google for Business suite is an asset.
  • Valid driver's license.

RESPONSABILITÉS PRINCIPALES

  • Servir de catalyseur et d'expert pour promouvoir et maintenir une culture de prévention positive au sein de l'organisation.
  • Soutenir les gestionnaires concernant le déploiement et le suivi des programmes et activités de prévention.
  • Compléter les rapports mensuels faisant le suivi des performances de l'organisation en matière de santé, de sécurité et de bien-être.
  • Développer des communications appropriées sur la santé, la sécurité et le mieux-être au travail, au besoin.
  • Identification des conditions et pratiques dangereuses, y compris l'évaluation des risques et l'élaboration de recommandations.
  • En partenariat avec le fournisseur externe, effectuer la gestion des réclamations CNESST/WSIB.
  • Soutenir les gestionnaires et les représentants en santé et sécurité dans les enquêtes sur les accidents de travail afin d'assurer l'identification adéquate des causes profondes et l'application des mesures préventives.
  • Coordonner les formations et les différentes activités reliés à la santé, sécurité et mieux-être.
  • Réviser les tendances et analyse des données de santé, sécurité et mieux-être pour créer des plans d'action ciblés.
  • Engagement avec les divers bureaux régionaux à travers des visites régulières et des audits de santé, de sécurité et de mieux-être.
  • Optimiser les processus d'auto-gestion des comités locaux de santé, sécurité et mieux-être.
  • Aider avec la mise en œuvre et au suivi des plans, politiques et procédures de santé, sécurité et mieux-être.
  • Dans le cadre de leur emploi, les employés doivent prendre toutes les mesures nécessaires pour assurer leur santé et leur sécurité ainsi que celles de leurs collègues et du public en général. En tout temps, ils doivent porter l'équipement de protection personnelle disponible et respecter les politiques, procédures, directives et consignes en matière de santé et de sécurité émises par Cogeco.
  • Le titulaire du poste doit toujours garder à l'esprit que l'exécution de son travail soutient le but ultime de Cogeco, soit d'offrir un excellent service à ses clients actuels et potentiels, y compris ses clients internes.
  • Aider, au besoin, à répondre à des demandes d'autres unités fonctionnelles et participer à des projets spéciaux ou effectuer d'autres tâches, selon les besoins.

COMPÉTENCES ESSENTIELLES
ÉDUCATION

  • Diplôme universitaire en santé et sécurité, ou autre discipline connexe, ou une combinaison d'éducation et d'expérience professionnelle équivalente.

EXPÉRIENCE PROFESSIONNELLE

  • 5 à 8 ans d'expérience dans un rôle de santé, sécurité et mieux être
  • Expérience en milieu de travail syndiqué serait un atout.
  • Détenteur du titre CRHA, un atout important

COMPÉTENCES SPÉCIFIQUES

  • Bilinguisme (Anglais et Français), tant à l'oral qu'à l'écrit,
  • Excellentes capacités de communications et d'influence
