Summary:

The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company's Quality Management System (QMS) at each of the 3 Alberta-based manufacturing facilities. The role leads quality assurance and quality control activities, drives continuous improvement, manages nonconformances, and is management representative for the company's ISO 9001:2015 and API Q1 certifications.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Management representative of the company quality management system, responsible for general oversight and maintaining the API Q1 and ISO 9001:2015 certifications for each facility.
  • Travel between facilities in Calgary and Leduc periodically as required, managing teams of inspectors and related staff.
  • Ensure that processes needed for the quality management system are established, implemented, maintained, and continually improved.
  • Lead and coordinate nonconformance investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Lead and coordinate the development, implementation and monitoring of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Lead and participate in internal and external audits as required.
  • Assist with new product development and continuous improvement by integrating quality control tools into processes.
  • Participate in training, safety meetings, and other duties as required.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Effectively manage and influence people. Enforce all quality procedures/instructions at each location.
  • A strong aptitude for technical writing, able to understand complex processes and document in clear and concise ways appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Mechanically inclined, ability to learn and understand manufacturing processes to help determine root cause of quality issues.
  • Keen attention to detail, with strong aptitude to understand technical drawings.
  • Good computer skills, including an understanding of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Team player with good verbal and written communication skills, able to follow and understand both oral and written instructions in English

Education

  • Relevant post-secondary education.
  • Experience working in quality management systems based on quality standards such as ISO 9001:2015 and API Q1.
  • Lead or internal auditor training or certification is an asset.

Experience

  • 6+ years of direct QC experience in a manufacturing or machining
  • Drivers license and own a vehicle, able to drive between Calgary and Leduc as needed.
  • Highly motivated and self-directed, capable of multi-tasking, accountable, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Dedicated to continuous improvement.
