The opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists in our Leach Department with the Metals Division for a Temporary (6 months) Operator. The Operator will contribute to the operation of the Leach Plant process, feed handling and related operations. This position is required to monitor, sample, troubleshoot, operate and maintain control of varied process equipment and inputs within established parameters in a 24-hour operational plant.
In This Role, You Will Be Accountable For
- Troubleshooting process, circuit, or equipment upset conditions or issues
- Operating automated control systems
- Monitoring and inspecting plant equipment
- Measuring temperature flow and pressure
- Analyzing and recording instrument readings and equipment malfunction
- Troubleshooting and performing corrective actions or minor repairs, as required
- Performing routine equipment maintenance
- Maintaining daily log of operation, maintenance and safety activities
Skills and attributes for success:
- High School Diploma is a requirement
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License
- Fourth Class Power Engineering Certificate issued by ABSA is an asset
- Experience operating forklift, front-end loader and skid steer loaders
- Consistently exhibits good performance through displaying Sherritt's Promises
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Capability to engage in manual labor and handle physical work requirements
