10tation Event Catering and The Freebird Market operate one of Toronto's most dynamic culinary production facilities — a bright, 7,500 sq. ft., fully equipped chef-driven kitchen producing premium prepared meals, salads, sandwiches, pastries, sauces, braised meats, and large-batch catering items.

We combine restaurant-level craftsmanship with efficient production systems to serve our café locations, corporate clients, off-site events, and retail customers. Our team values respect, collaboration, creativity, and consistency — and we're looking for a Production Chef who shares these values.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Production Chef to join our commissary kitchen team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes in large batches, supporting menu execution, and ensuring efficiency and consistency across production lines.

This position requires excellent organization, strong kitchen fundamentals, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute daily production lists for prepared meals, proteins, sauces, salads, sides, and catering items
  • Cook and portion items in large batches according to established recipes and standards
  • Maintain strict food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation procedures
  • Assist with organization, labeling, storage, and rotation of all products (FIFO)
  • Collaborate with Chefs and Production Leads to ensure consistent quality
  • Support prep teams, pastry, and hot line as needed
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, leads, and management
  • Ensure workstation efficiency, cleanliness, and readiness throughout the shift
  • Participate in daily/weekly kitchen organization, deep cleaning, and ongoing improvements

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in high-volume kitchens, production kitchens, or catering environments
  • Strong cooking fundamentals (roasting, braising, baking, soups, sauces, batch cooking)
  • Ability to follow detailed recipes with precision and consistency
  • Exceptional organization, time management, and communication skills
  • Ability to lift 40–50 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Food Handler Certification (required or willingness to obtain)
  • Positive attitude, team-oriented mindset, and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work mornings, weekdays, and weekends as required by production volume
