This is an opportunity to be highly involved in the essential steps of managing the client process with regards to planning, accounting and tax advisory. Experience working within a professional accounting services environment will be of value; however, those who have experience within the financial industry, and who are looking to grow into a more specialized role within a financial firm, will also be highly regarded.

The individual in this role will work closely with our CPA Accountant and Financial Planners to collaboratively support the financial planning and tax planning year-round services. This position offers a diverse range of responsibilities creating a dynamic and engaging work environment. Although the role will expand the knowledge and skillset of the candidate, they must also embrace administrative and processed-driven work. Understanding that the administrative, template-based, and repetitive work is essential and supports a strong, successful client relationship.

The successful candidate will possess clear, strong and professional communication skills, as well as experience working with excel, Adobe and Docusign, and has the ability to adapt easily to different technology and software solutions.

Strong organizational and management skills are essential for success in this role and are especially crucial during peak periods with increased workload, such as tax season. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and perform under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.

Duties:

  • Supporting and facilitating the administrative preparation of T1 and T2 returns and T3, T4 and T5's.
  • Prior to the accountant preparing the tax return, the candidate will review all client documents, identify missing or unnecessary items, obtain any required documentation, and ensure the file is complete and ready for final preparation.
  • Obtaining information required for preparation from CRA Represent a Client, tax packages and reports for investment accounts, mortgage statements, etc.
  • Preparing and maintaining spreadsheets for clients, including calculations and totals for rental, medical and donation items.
  • Coordinating and preparing for client drop off meetings as well as administration of the files received at the office.
  • Coordinating and facilitating the delivery of the prepared tax file including scheduling meetings, obtaining signatures and completing final steps of filing the T1 return.
  • Assisting with the preparation of the written tax plan.
  • Preparing CRA reviews and uploading of documents to the CRA.
  • Acting as a liaison with the CRA on matters related to client files.
  • Managing and responding to client inquiries.
