Massage Therapy Field Placement Coordinator

Applications are invited for the regular position of ¬part-time Massage Field Placement Coordinator in the School of Allied Health. The starting hourly rate is $33.28/hr (Classified as Support Services Officer C - $33.28/hr to $38.74/hr) for a 24-hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary. The position is located at the Welland Campus.
Reporting to the Associate Dean, School of Allied Health, the Massage Therapy Field Placement Coordinator provides support to the massage therapy program by coordinating, arranging and monitoring clinical placements and maintaining student and program files. The successful candidate will be self-motivated with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, while working to give placement partners and students the best clinical placement experiences. They will work independently and exercises initiative, good judgement, confidentiality sensitivity and excellent customer services skills when communicating with academic administrators, program staff, other college departments, students, clinical placement partners, industry partners, and the general public.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Liaising with affiliated agencies for clinical placement of Massage Therapy students, arranging these learning opportunities and monitoring the students' progress
- Keeping abreast of program requirements and curricular issues by maintaining contact with employers, professional associations and colleagues
- Creating and maintaining accurate placement spreadsheets each term once placements are secure
- Acting as a resource/support for students both at the College and at field placement sites, responding to inquiries and/or concerns regarding placement issues, including breakdown of placements/ unavailability of host agencies
- Distributing, collecting and maintaining required paperwork for students, and for placement and placement sites; including Police checks, BLS/first aid certificates, evaluations, WIL forms, CDS clearance
- Coordinating and conducting site visits (as required) for student placements and the ability to resolve student placement issues
- Continually researching new agencies to broaden database and expand placement opportunities via internet and site visits
- Providing direction to appropriate faculty member regarding field placement issues
- Maintaining daily program correspondence and developing records systems
- Attending program meetings, Advisory Committee and participate/advise as pertains to placement requirements/issues
- Troubleshooting any problems or issues that may arise due to student performance or lack thereof. Completing termination process if deemed by agency
- Working with the Program Manager on implementing Accreditation processes
- Three (3) year diploma in Massage Therapy or similar field of study
- Registered Massage Therapist in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario
- Three (3) years practical experience with knowledge of working in clinical environments and outreach programs
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
This position is open to INTERNAL employees only. Internal employees are those classified as regular part-time within the Part-Time Support Staff bargaining unit.
