Position

Underground Development Miner – III, Nunavut

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Supervisor, Underground Development, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

Responsibilities

• Safe and efficient operation of underground mining equipment including, but not limited to: scooptram (6yd, 8yd and 10yd), haul truck (30t and Slt), underground LV, scissor lift, boomtruck, and telehandler in accordance with site standard operating procedures.
• Complete thorough pre/post-operational inspections of equipment, reporting deficiencies or damage to the Shift Supervisor.
• Conduct thorough post-blast inspections to assess safety and operational readiness. Identify ground conditions and implement appropriate protocols for managing poor ground conditions.
• Perform mucking out of development rounds efficiently. Manage the transportation of ore and waste to ensure smooth workflow and compliance with safety standards.
• Scale, bolt, and screen development rounds, slashes, and benches to maintain mine integrity. Install necessary ground support systems to ensure safe and stable operations.
• Safely handle and load explosives for development rounds, adhering to all safety protocols; Prepare mining faces properly to optimize blasting and subsequent activities.
• Accurately document and report shift details to the Shift Supervisor in a timely manner; Perform offsider and auxiliary tasks to support the overall mining operations.
• Maintain a high level of housekeeping in the underground mine.

Desired Competencies and Requirements

• Three (3) years of development mining experience with demonstrated proficiency in relevant tasks;
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining underground mining equipment;
• Blasting ticket in a Canadian jurisdiction and a valid First Aid certificate is required; and
• Strong safety mindset, excellent communication skills, and ability to follow instructions from supervisors.

Compensation and Benefits

For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $139,867.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $50.75 and overtime rate of $76.13) in a work year.
