Position

Uunderground Heavy Equipment Technician, Nunavut

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Supervisor, Underground Maintenance this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on underground mining equipment—including scoop trams, haul trucks, jumbos, bolters, loaders, graders and drills —and ensure clear communication throughout the process;
  • Perform inspections, diagnostics, and pre-inspections of equipment and test repaired equipment for proper performance to meet or exceed manufacture's specifications;
  • Fabricate alternative componentry for equipment which will effectively and safely substitute for OEM parts;
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems in accordance with equipment manuals and company standards;
  • Maintain service records, work orders, and parts usage in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS); and
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to reduce downtime, operate tools and diagnostic equipment safely, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Desired Competencies and Requirements

  • Five (5) years' experience, including apprenticeship, with preference in working in remote areas, including arctic conditions;
  • Interprovincial Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician; or Nunavut Certificate of Qualifications, in accordance with regulations; and
  • Expertise in diagnosing and repairing hydraulics, diesel engines, electrical systems, and undercarriage components, with the ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes.

Compensation and Benefits

For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $172,250.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $62.50 and overtime rate of $93.75) in a work year.

B2Gold Nunavut offers a competitive compensation package, including salary commensurate with experience, knowledge, and skills, plus a group benefits package for employees and their dependents.
