Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Curator/Supervisor, Lambton Heritage Museum, the Facilities Support Student assists the Preparator/Facility Operations with maintenance and construction tasks including repairing and painting walls and basic carpentry projects. The student also performs outdoor maintenance tasks including gardening and upkeep on the museum grounds. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Building Maintenance:

• Repairing and painting walls.

• Assist with the construction of tables and mounts for work areas.

• Dusting exhibit galleries and cleaning light fixtures.

Outdoor Maintenance:

• Weeding and pruning gardens on museum grounds.

• Raking gravel and leaves.

• Keeping walking trails clear of debris.

• Sweeping and tidying historic buildings on museum grounds.

• Operation of Museum tractor for outdoor maintenance as required.

General:

• Incumbents must keep up-to-date on all relevant legislation, collective bargaining agreements, County Policies and Procedures, etc. ensuring that these are implemented as prescribed

• Incumbents must possess the physical ability to meet the duties and responsibilities of the job description and/or the requirements identified within the position's Physical Demands Analysis.

Credentials Required

Minimum Formal Education

• Must be enrolled in a post-secondary program.

Experience

• Familiarity with power tools and the ability to drive a tractor is an asset.
