**Position Summary**
The focus of the Visitor Services/Cataloguing Student is to assist with admissions, gift shop sales, and tourism inquiries. The student also inputs artifact catalogue information and links photographs to artifact records in the collections database.
**Job Duties and Responsibilities**
Visitor Services
- Greet museum visitors and take admissions.
- Direct visitors to local attractions and amenities.
- Answer visitor queries in person and on the phone.
- Process payments in cash register and debit terminal.
- Balance cash at days end.
- Direct queries and visitors to museum staff as required.
Database Updates
- Input collections records into collections management system.
- Ensure accurate transfer of information into electronic record.
- Survey and organize all artifact photographs on current Museum Drive & consolidate.
- Link photographs to existing records in the collections management system.
- Create new records if a photographed artifact does not already have a record.
General:
- Incumbents must keep up-to-date on all relevant legislation, collective bargaining agreements, County Policies and Procedures, etc. ensuring that these are implemented as prescribed
- Incumbents must possess the physical ability to meet the duties and responsibilities of the job description and/or the requirements identified within the position's Physical Demands Analysis.

**Credentials Required**
Minimum Formal Education
- Currently enrolled in a history or tourism development program at university or college.
- Must be a student returning to school in the upcoming school year.
Experience
- Accurate keyboarding skills, attention to detail, ability to work both independently and with a team are required.
- Experience working with Word and Excel as well as other electronic databases would be an asset.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to work with the public are required.
- Knowledge of local history is an asset.
