About The Humane Choices Foundation
The Humane Choices Foundation is a registered nonprofit organization based in Ontario, Canada, dedicated to protecting and defending the inherent rights of all animals.
Through education, advocacy, and direct action, we promote compassion, respect, and ethical treatment — striving to build a world where every animal can live free from cruelty and suffering.
We are seeking a creative, mission-driven Social Media & Digital Content Manager to join our growing communications team and help shape the organization's online voice and presence.
Position Overview
The Social Media & Digital Content Manager (Volunteer) will oversee The Humane Choices Foundation's social media presence across major platforms, ensuring all content reflects our mission, professionalism, and compassion-driven messaging.
This role involves content creation, storytelling, brand consistency, and community engagement — with a strong focus on using Canva and other design tools to create visually compelling, educational, and inspiring posts.
The ideal candidate will be both strategic and hands-on, capable of building online engagement and increasing awareness of animal rights and humane education initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

- Monitor analytics and adjust strategies to improve reach, impressions, and interaction rates.
- Stay current with social media trends, algorithms, and platform updates to enhance visibility.
Content Creation & Design
- Create high-quality, visually engaging posts, infographics, and short-form videos using Canva and other creative tools.
- Collaborate with the communications team to produce campaign assets, event promotions, and educational content.
- Write impactful captions and short stories that inspire compassion and action.
- Design shareable content that reflects professionalism, empathy, and hope.
Community Engagement
- Engage authentically with followers, responding to messages, comments, and questions in a timely, compassionate tone.
- Build meaningful relationships with animal rights advocates, educational institutions, and partner organizations online.
- Support volunteer and youth ambassador engagement through digital storytelling and recognition campaigns.
- Identify opportunities for collaborations and cross-promotions with other humane organizations.
Brand Consistency & Collaboration
- Uphold The Humane Choices Foundation's brand guidelines, mission, and voice across all digital channels.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Digital Infrastructure, Youth Programs Manager, and other team leads to ensure messaging consistency.
- Support digital campaigns, fundraising efforts, and advocacy events with creative materials.
- Provide monthly reports summarizing performance metrics, engagement trends, and content highlights.

Required
- Strong passion for animal rights, humane education, or ethical advocacy.
- Proficiency with Canva for content design and layout.
- Excellent writing, storytelling, and communication skills.
- Experience managing social media accounts for organizations, projects, or campaigns.

- Creativity, attention to detail, and commitment to producing visually cohesive content.
Preferred
- Experience using scheduling tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Later, Buffer, Hootsuite).
- Knowledge of video editing tools (e.g., CapCut, Canva Video, or Premiere Rush).
- Familiarity with branding, nonprofit communications, or digital advocacy.
- Ability to adapt tone and design for different platforms and audiences.
What You'll Gain
- Hands-on experience leading social media for a professional nonprofit organization.
- Opportunity to tell powerful stories that influence hearts, policies, and global awareness.
- A collaborative environment with creative freedom and mentorship.
