Job Overview
The Student Success Coordinator independently performs the required complex administrative tasks and coordination related to program orientations, support referrals, policy enforcement, and official student graduation documents within a portfolio of programs in the diploma division. They are the primary support person for students, faculty, and staff related to these aspects of the programs within their portfolio.
- Location: Hybrid – Surrey, BC
- Employment Type: Full-Time, Temporary (Maternity Leave Coverage)
- Start Date: As soon as possible
- Salary: $50,000 per year, with the possibility of increasing to $52,000 per year upon successful completion of the 90-day probation period
General duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintains strong knowledge of the structure, expectations, and unique aspects of each program
- Maintains strong working knowledge of all Student Handbook policies
- Works in partnership with the Student Logistics Coordinator to ensure optimal student support
- Collaborate with Department Heads/Managers and instructors to support students while enforcing Stenberg College Student policies.
- Maintains program-specific Student Services Presentations
- Participates in Program Schedule review meetings
- Maintains Program Schedules once they are "live"
- Creates & distributes program welcome emails
- Coordinates & hosts Student Services orientations
- Refers students to support services throughout their program, such as academic tutoring, life coaching, English-language support, etc.
- Collaborates with faculty to determine actions regarding student progress
- Identifies the need & facilitates mediated conversations for students, as required
- Identifies the need & facilitates student group feedback sessions, as required
- Facilitates complex, challenging, and emotionally charged conversations with students regarding their status in their program
- Identifies & reports complex or urgent student matters to the Manager of Student Services promptly
- Writes, distributes & files student exit letters
- Facilitates, writes, distributes & files student re-entry procedures
- Files digital student documentation
- Maintains student notes & documents in the current administration system according to compliance requirements
- Facilitates monthly Student Advisory Council engagement
- Updates funded student progress reports monthly
- Verifies student graduation lists
- Sends graduation lists to regulatory bodies
- Maintains all program diploma and certificate templates
- Creates digital student transcripts and diplomas
- Contributes student support, attrition, and policy information for accreditation reports
- Attends program faculty meetings, as needed
- Attends and supports bi-annual graduation ceremonies, as needed
Other duties and responsibilities:
- Maintains professional communication at all times with staff, faculty, students, and external contacts
- Communicates daily with staff, faculty, and students via email, phone, and Microsoft Teams
- Works between campuses and administration offices, as required
- Assists other Student Services team members, as required
- Collaborates with other teams, as required
Qualifications
- A minimum of two years experience in coaching, community support, counseling, or a similar administrative role.
- A minimum of two years post-secondary education in a human services field.
- Combination of experience & education will be considered.
- Proficiency with MS Office 365.
- Exceptional computer proficiency, and ability to learn new software and procedures.
- Previous experience with a Learning Management System (LMS) and/or large databases would be an asset.
- Previous health care, nursing, and/or human services knowledge would be an asset.
