Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and proactive Studio Assistant with a strong technical portfolio to support our mold-making and ceramics production. The ideal candidate will be a self-managed individual who takes initiative and can work independently to ensure the smooth operation of our studio. This role is primarily focused on the hands-on aspects of ceramics production, with opportunities to be involved in other areas of the company.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the mold-making and slipcasting workflow, from material preparation to finished pieces.
  • Manage day-to-day studio tasks, including mixing clay and glazes, casting, and finishing ceramic pieces.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe studio environment.
  • Operate and maintain studio equipment, including kilns.
  • Assist with inventory management of studio supplies and materials.

Required Qualifications:

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating technical skill and high-quality craft in ceramics, sculpture, or a related field. Please include a link to your portfolio in your application.
  • Proven ability to work independently with a high degree of reliability and self-management.
  • Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills in a hands-on environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

Bonus Skills & Interests (Assets, but not required):

  • Experience in digital fabrication (3D printing, CNC, etc.).
  • Experience using 3D modeling software (Maya, Fusion360, ZBrush)
  • Familiarity with web design/development (NextJS, React, Figma).
  • Experience with social media management for a creative brand.
  • Interest in electronics prototyping and programming.

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $20.00-$27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
