The following Sessional Instructional Assistant positions in the Winter 2025 term are currently available. Department: Institute of Communication, Culture, Information & Technology.

The ICCIT invites applications from qualified candidates who are not current University of Toronto students. Appointment dates: January1 to April 30, 2026 for 'S' courses.

Qualifications (unless specified): Must have completed formal education/experience specific to the subject area. Must be familiar with Quercus. Demonstrated teaching excellence and advanced technological skills are required. For marking positions, candidates must be able to work well under time constraints and meet deadlines.

Duties: (Include but are not limited to one or more of the following): Conducting in-person tutorials and maintaining scheduled office hours, student e-mail contact, grading, invigilating, and clerical duties. Practical invigilation is required. The mode of instruction for the courses is in-person.

CCT285H5S Immersive Environment Design

Students will develop skills in the areas of bitmap/vector graphics, audio/visual production and editing, 2D/3D modeling and animation, and video game design. Students will produce immersive environments while addressing and engaging issues of remix culture and intellectual property.

PRA0101 Tuesdays 11am-12pm

Anticipated Course Enrolment: 48

Approximate Size of Appointment(s): 65 hours

Estimated Number of Positions: 1

Additional Qualifications: Working knowledge of 3D computer graphics applications (Maya) and video game engine applications (Unity). Must be comfortable providing guidance and troubleshooting questions while students work on their programs. Experience in building 3d worlds.

CCT286H5S Interactive Media Design

This course provides students with the opportunity to learn the skills necessary to produce responsive web content. Students will develop skills in the areas of website design, interactive and animated web content, mobile app development, and mobile game development.

January1 to April 30, 2026

PRA0101 Thursdays 9am-12pm

Anticipated Course Enrolment: 55

Approximate Size of Appointment(s): 50 hours

Additional Qualifications: Demonstrated teaching excellence and advanced practical skill in Unity, Blender, and/or similar appropriate software.

CCT453H5S Digital Media Production II

Building on the CCT353H5 Digital Media Production I, this course will further develop theoretical and practical aspects of video production and editing. Over the course of the term, we will explore advanced video and sound capture techniques, media mixing, applications of digital libraries and effects in post-processing.

PRA0103 Fridays 3-7pm

Anticipated Course Enrolment: 40

Approximate Size of Appointment(s): 60 hours

Additional Qualifications: Demonstrated teaching excellence and advanced practical skill in Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro and/or other appropriate software.

CCT460H5S Web Development and Design III

This course builds on the front-end web development skills acquired in the Web Development and Design I & II courses by adding a server-side programming and database design component. Students will learn the theoretical and practical aspects of implementing data-driven applications, leveraging query languages, APIs and Content Management Systems for enterprise systems. Further topics include integration of analytics and search strategies in CMS systems.

January1 to April 30, 2026

PRA0101 Thursdays 12-3pm

PRA0102 Tuesdays 6-9pm

Anticipated Course Enrolment: 110

Approximate Size of Appointment(s): 60 hours/section

Estimated Number of Positions: 2

Additional Qualifications: Must have extensive experience with front end web development with a focus on JavaScript. Familiarity with frameworks is a plus. Must be familiar with Quercus.

The rate of pay for a Sessional Instructional Assistant (SIA) is $54.27 per hour in accordance with CUPE 3902, Unit 3 Collective Agreement. Please note that should rates stipulated in the Collective Agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.

Please note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement, and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
