Course Title: SSM1050H - Ecosystem Science

Class Schedule: Winter Term: Date and time TBA

Dates of Appointment: January 1st, 2026 – April 30th, 2026

Description of Course: Ecosystem science provides the concepts and mode of thinking to support the sustainable management of diverse systems at a range of scales. An understanding of the interactions within and between ecosystems is a critical component of the design and implementation of sustainable management practices. This course provides the foundational concepts of ecosystem science for the understanding, assessment, and design of sustainable management regimes.

Position Description: a) grading quizzes, tests, assignments and exams b) meet with or respond to students' inquiries during office hours c) update material and grades on Quercus courseware d) attend weekly lecture and/or review lecture material e) other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications: Must have completed and achieved a minimum grade of "A" in SSM 1050 or equivalent courses

Preferred Qualifications: Preference given to applicants with previous TA experience in this course. Preference given to U of T PhD students and students with strong natural science background.

Salary FCE): $ vacation pay

Anticipated Enrollment: 45

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.

Please note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement, and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
