General Manager | Emil Anderson Equipment
About Emil Anderson Group
Emil Anderson Group (EAG) is a fourth-generation organization headquartered in Kelowna and operating across British Columbia. Our family of companies provides services in infrastructure construction and maintenance, land development, residential and commercial building, and property management.
We are known for our integrity, quality, and efficiency, and we take a collaborative approach—bringing owners, partners, and stakeholders together to deliver solutions that move our businesses and communities forward.
With regional offices and facilities in Kelowna and the Fraser Valley, we are positioned to serve communities throughout the province. We take pride in our people, our work, and our impact—helping connect and strengthen the places where British Columbians live and work.
Our success is rooted in our Core Values: Safety, Leadership, Improvement, Commitment, and Excellence. Joining our team means working on landmark projects, learning from industry leaders, and advancing your career in a supportive, safety-focused culture.
The Opportunity
We're seeking a General Manager to lead Emil Anderson Equipment (EAE), a key business within the Emil Anderson Group (EAG). In this role, you will oversee full P&L accountability, drive operational excellence, and help drive the long-term strategic direction of the equipment business. You will ensure our fleet operates safely, reliably, and cost-effectively; you'll optimize asset and fuel usage, boost utilization, and build strong cost-recovery systems.
Your Key Responsibilities
General
- Champion EAG's Core Values and actively promote a culture of safety, accountability, and compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Program and all regulatory requirements.
- Provide executive oversight to all aspects of equipment business performance, including operational reliability, service levels, utilization, uptime, fuel efficiency, cost per hour/km, and alignment to budget targets.
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Direct and optimize daily operations by leading cross-functional teams responsible for equipment operations, logistics, mechanical services, and fuel programs.
- Ensure equipment is effectively utilized, maintained, and mobilized in alignment with the needs of internal business units across the Group.
- Support long-range planning initiatives to support fleet lifecycle optimization, capital deployment, asset management, and future resource planning.
Commercial & Financial Stewardship
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, business planning, internal rental rate structure, and cost recovery.
- Analyze business performance and identify areas of opportunity or risk.
- Work closely with Finance to ensure accuracy in reporting and forecasting, without managing transactional-level financial entries.
- Lead capital planning: replacement cycles, lease versus buy, residual values, and total cost of ownership (TCO).
- Approve major repair/overhaul decisions and vendor contracts to optimize uptime and lifecycle cost.
- Monitor utilization and market conditions; recommend acquisitions, retirements, or reallocations.
Safety, Risk & Compliance
- Promote and reinforce safe work practices and ensure regulatory standards are upheld across all fleet activities.
- Monitor and respond to risks related to environmental compliance, movement of equipment, fuel management, and transportation.
- Support incident response, investigation, and corrective action implementation through responsible leaders.
Systems, Data & Continuous Improvement
- Sponsor modernization initiatives (BI tools, telematics, fleet tracking systems), ensuring alignment and adoption.
- Lead cross-functional projects to improve data quality, reporting automation, and process efficiency; utilize and analyze data to inform decisions.
- Champion a culture of continual improvement and standardization across equipment practices.
Leadership, Collaboration & Communication
- Lead and support operations, mechanics, logistics, and administrative personnel and develop leadership capability.
- Collaborate with Operations, Finance, HSE, Vendors, and project teams to align equipment availability with project schedules and operational goals.
Your Qualifications & Skills
- Strategic, Analytical & Critical Thinking
- Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Business Communication
- Risk Management & Compliance Orientation
- Financial & Operational Literacy (Equipment / Fleet / Heavy Civil)
- 10+ years progressive leadership experience
- Experience leading business areas or operational units with budget responsibility
- Strong foundation in budgeting, financial analysis, cost allocation, and charge-out methods
- Proficient with fleet management practices and capital lifecycle strategy
