Fleet Assistant

Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, with on-call responsibilities as needed
Position Overview: We seek a hands-on, mechanically inclined Fleet Assistant to support our vehicle fleet's day-to-day operations and upkeep, including cars, vans, pickup trucks, and 5-ton moving trucks equipped with power tailgates. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in vehicle maintenance and repair, a proactive work ethic, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine maintenance checks and inspections on all fleet vehicles, including 5-ton trucks - fluid levels, tire pressure, lights, and safety features.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues across a wide range of vehicles.
- Perform minor repairs to ensure fleet readiness and minimize downtime.
- Inspect and service 5-ton moving trucks and power tailgate systems.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are organized, clean, and well-maintained.
- Safely transfer and reposition vehicles between locations or for servicing.
- Respond to after-hours breakdowns and maintenance calls on a rotating on-call basis.
- Keep detailed and accurate maintenance work, inspections, and repair records.
- Communicate any major mechanical concerns to the Fleet Manager promptly.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required).
- Demonstrated experience in vehicle maintenance and light mechanical repair.
- Prior experience working with 5-ton trucks and power tailgates (preferred).
- Strong troubleshooting abilities with mechanical systems.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage time effectively.
- Comfortable working independently and in a fast-paced team environment.
- Good verbal communication skills and a proactive attitude.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in outdoor conditions and on/under vehicles as needed.
- Must be able to stand, bend, and work on feet for extended periods.
