Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Sr Business Analyst – Finance and Accounting (Banking) who will be responsible for conducting detailed analysis of current financial applications and processes. The successful candidate will collaborate with finance teams and technology partners to identify inefficiencies, define future-state solutions, and ensure alignment with control and accounting requirements. This role requires strong analytical skills, financial acumen, and the ability to bridge business needs with technical solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed analysis to understand how end users interact with current financial applications, including workflows, processes, and objectives.
  • Identify key processes and functionalities currently in use, as well as vendor-provided components that are unnecessary or redundant.
  • Perform current-state analysis to capture how money movement and financial processes operate today, including complexities and dependencies.
  • Apply knowledge of finance and accounting to assess the significance of existing functionalities and justify requirements to technology partners.
  • Unwind and map existing processes to identify inefficiencies and potential areas for improvement.
  • Lead process analysis sessions and help define the future-state solution for financial systems.
  • Ensure alignment of processes with financial controls, general ledger requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to recommend improvements that enhance operational efficiency and control compliance.

Desired Skill Set

  • Strong business analysis skills with experience in finance or accounting environments.
  • Basic accounting knowledge and understanding of financial controls, general ledger, and financial processes.
  • Ability to document and map current-state and future-state processes clearly.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities to work with business and technology partners.

Nice To Have

  • Familiarity with financial systems and accounting software.
  • Experience with process improvement and workflow optimization in financial services.
  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in finance and accounting.
