Position Summary:
The Payroll Specialist collects, verifies and processes payroll information, determines pay and benefit entitlements for employees, and maintains accurate payroll records across all Doidge Building Centres Ltd. locations.
Location:
This position is on-site at the RONA store in Kincardine, Ontario.
Duties and Responsibilities,
but not limited to:
- Prepare, verify and process all employee payroll related payments in ADP Workforce Now, including regular pay, benefit payments, and special payments such as bonuses, commissions, and vacation pay
- Prepare payroll-related filings and supporting documentation, such as year-end tax statements, Records of Employment, and other required statements
- Compile, review, and monitor statistical reports, statements, and summaries related to pay and benefits
- Prepare and balance period-end reports and reconcile issued payrolls to bank statements
- Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies
- Monitor and track time-off balances for employees in accordance with company policies
- Complete, verify, and process forms and documentation related to the administration of benefits such as leaves, employment, and medical insurance
- Support the recruitment process by drafting and posting job advertisements, screening applicants, coordinating interviews, and conducting phone interviews.
- Track and maintain documentation for health and safety training including onboarding, first aid, and Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) certifications
- Conduct exit interviews
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Payroll Administration.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification preferred.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Exemplary listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong time management and problem-solving skills, able to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficient computer skills; experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software required.
- Strong math skills; basic understanding of business and accounting principles required.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now is an asset.
