SALARY: $21.00 per hour, plus vacation pay
The Reservation Agent is responsible for efficiently managing booking requests, providing information on ferry schedules, routes, and pricing for the Chi-Cheemaun ferry between Tobermory and Manitoulin Island. They are also responsible for assisting customers with reservations, cancellations, and modifications to existing reservations.
We seek to fill ten (10) Seasonal Reservation Agent positions. The positions will have various start dates from March onwards and are required to staff the reservation centre, in person, from March until the end of October. The positions will vary in duration, from up to nine (9) months to four (4) and two (2) month positions which are open to University/College and High School students and are designed to accommodate student schedules. Starting in May, the reservation centre – located in Springmount - will be open 7 days per week. These positions are open to all applicants. For student applicants, please indicate your availability for starting full-time hours and weekends.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
The primary job duties and responsibilities for the Seasonal Reservation Agent include but are not limited to the following:
- Creating and modifying reservations together with processing individual sales on the Bookit reservation system.
- Customer relation activities, including but not limited to, answering phones, emails and in-person inquiries.
- Answer inquiries regarding the policies and procedures for the carriage of dangerous goods.
- Reporting any non conformance issues to management of any issues that may deviate from established policies or procedures.
- Identifying all freight and informing the receiving terminal.
- Informing all customers of events or cancellations and arranging all rescheduling and refunds.
- Contributing to agency efforts by accomplishing related tasks as required.
- Communicate and collaborate with other departments/ locations to ensure smooth and safe operations.
- Assist customers in a friendly and professional manner, both in person and over the phone, providing helpful information about local tourism attractions, events, and activities.
- Ensure workspace and visitor areas are clean and tidy.
- Other duties as assigned/required.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, WORK EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS
- High school diploma or GED certificate, current high school students may apply for summer seasonal positions.
- Customer-service experience.
- Debit transactions and financial documentation knowledge.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with reservation systems, an asset.
- Two or more years of successful performance in customer service in a telephone-based environment as well as in person is preferred.
- Technology oriented; accurate data entry; comfortable learning new applications.
- Above average verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English. A second language is preferred.
- Must have good hand-eye coordination and ability to type on a computer keyboard.
