About the Job:
Overnight Frontline Worker is responsible for providing support to program residents while working in collaboration with primary program caseworkers in a transitional housing program setting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the vulnerable population of individuals in transition
- Maintain an environment that is conducive to a 24/7 person centered care and support program
- Support harm reduction and recovery-based strategies in partnership with clients
- Ensure a clean, safe, and secure environment
- Maintaining appropriate record keeping/documentation, client files, statistical and outcome measurement tools, meeting agency and partner timelines
- Conduct daily operation tasks such as inventory, supply ordering, building rounds and building rapport with program participants.
- Support primary workers with client engagement, documentation, and development and following through with case plan
- Responsible for client/resident safety
- Other assessments as required (i.e. mental health status exams, wellness checks, etc.)
- Perform additional duties as required/delegated
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in Social Work, Social Services, Health Services, or equivalent
1+ years Supporting the homeless population
- Knowledge of tenant population, diversity issues, anti-discrimination practices, and systemic reasons for homelessness
- Strong knowledge of Housing First Principles
- Experience working with families experiencing or at risk of homelessness
- Ability to apply principles of housing first principles approach in day to day work and interactions with clients
- Strong communication skills, assessment, risk management and crisis de-escalation
- Working knowledge of SPDAT and HIFIS
- Working knowledge of HIFIS is an asset
- Proficient in MS Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
- A vehicle, valid driver's license, and adequate insurance coverage
- Valid Certification in First Aid & CPR
- Training in ASIST and CPI
- Vulnerable Screening Level 3
Reporting Function:
They will work with both internal and external partners and will interact with all levels within the organization. They will have no supervisory responsibilities.
They will be a support system, resource, and an advocator for the team and Organization.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Shifts are every Friday and Saturday, 11:00pm – 7:30am, but may vary depending on client needs. Will be required to work statutory holidays.
- Average amount of physical effort is required.
- Able to sit/stand for prolonged periods of time
- Able to answer and communicate telephone calls and general computer use
- Able to lift up to 20lbs (product, documents, etc.)
- Vehicle travel to sites for community engagement and open doors as required.
- Clients are permitted to have their pets on-site.
- You may be required to administer naloxone in response to suspected opioid overdoses, and must complete appropriate training to recognize overdose symptoms, safely administer naloxone via nasal spray or injection, and follow emergency protocols including contacting emergency services. You will receive training within the first eight weeks of employment.
