Job Description:
Parsons is looking for a talented Assistant Project Manager, Project Delivery to join our team In this role you will get to help bring transportation projects to completion and in-use by the public as they move throughout western Canada.
What You'll Be Doing:
Beyond offering support to Senior and Project Managers, you'll act as a hands-on project manager across all phases of the project management lifecycle, from initiation and planning, through execution and control, to close-out.
- Lead project meetings to define project scope, specify project deliverables.
- Create a project charters and project plans that align with work assignments and client objectives.
- Engage in and/or spearhead consultation sessions with team members, stakeholders and project sponsors to ensure project goals and objectives are met.
- Deliver technical expertise to our clients to address project-related issues and support in decision making.
- Conduct thorough research, analysis, and development of project proposals, assess conflicting priorities, identify options, and make informed recommendations to project sponsors
- Strategize options and approaches to handle issues and project delivery needs.
- Develop data analysis, strategies, and key performance indicators for evaluating progress of projects.
- Evaluate the potential risk impacts, mitigation strategies, risk responses, and ensure risks are quantified using quantitative risk analysis.
- Collaborate with Indigenous Relations staff to build relationships with Indigenous communities and assist in fulfilling the duty to consult.
- Coordinate with external agencies, including local governments and utility companies, to ensure seamless work collaboration.
- Monitor and evaluate project resources, processes, and progress. Identify risks and obstacles and develop strategies to address them.
- Deliver projects within defined scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
- Assist on internal project management controls to manage client needs.
- Contribute to building relationships with clients and working on client proposal documentation to ensure successful award of new projects.
- Working with the internal team to grow our Project Management Skills and knowledge to successfully deliver for our clients
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
An undergraduate degree or higher in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field, complemented by at least 2 years of relevant experience; OR
A Diploma or Technical Diploma in Engineering, Business Administration or a related field, paired with 4 years of related experience; OR
Secondary school graduation (or equivalent) and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience will also be considered.
• Demonstrated understanding of project management principles and application.Solid understanding of project scope, schedule, risk, and budget applications
Broad knowledge of Microsoft Applications.
Experience in Indigenous consultation, with Indigenous communities.
Knowledge of conflict and dispute resolution principles and practices, fostering an effective and harmonious team environment.
Strong oral and written communication, problem-solving skills, paired with excellent organizational, prioritization, and leadership abilities to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Understanding of procurement, resource, and financial management principles to maintain efficient and cost-effective project operations.
Capability to work independently, exhibiting strong self-initiative and determination.
An adept ability to exercise discretion, tact, and judgement when liaising with Indigenous communities, internal and external stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and the public.
Possession of a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, or the eligibility and commitment to secure this designation within the next 24 months. This demonstrates your dedication to professional development and adherence to project management best practices.
Experience specifically within the transportation sector. This industry-specific knowledge will be invaluable in understanding the unique challenges and opportunities presented by our projects.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
Preference may be given to applicants with a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or those eligible to obtain one and who have experience in infrastructure related projects.
Salary Range:
