Summary

Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS)'s Community Development and Integration Services Okotoks office is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator and is accepting applications from qualified job seekersThe Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering community-based engagement activities that foster belonging, connection, and mutual learning between newcomers and long-time residents in Okotoks and surrounding area.

Description

Functional Statement:

Working collaboratively with the Foothills Local Immigration Coordinator and Partnership Council (FLIP), FCIS Okotoks settlement staff, and community partners, the coordinator will implement initiatives that support newcomer settlement, strengthen community connections, and celebrate community diversity.

The role focuses on inclusive engagement, relationship-building, and co-creation of activities that encourage participation, contribution, and shared community identity.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The Community Engagement Coordinator will coordinate and deliver community engagement activities aligned with partnership priorities and will implement the following activities in collaboration:

  1. Skill Share Activities

  2. Support the delivery of a minimum of 10 skill-share sessions (1-2 per month) by December 2026

  3. Partner with community organizations, and existing FLIP working groups to achieve targets/outcomes
  4. Engage and recruit participants, track attendance, and basic program documentation
  5. Collect feedback and contribute to reporting on activities and outcomes as required
  6. Coordinate logistics, scheduling, program space and delivery of activities

  7. Community Art Mural Project

  8. Collaborate with partners to engage youth and seniors in facilitated art activities

  9. Support participants to create artwork expressing identity, belonging, and community
  10. Coordinate the assembly of individual art pieces into two larger community murals
  11. In collaboration, determine exhibition spaces and times for the mural exhibitions
  12. Collect feedback and contribute to reporting on activities and outcomes as required

  13. Community Conversations

  14. Work with partners to plan and host six community conversation events from March to December 2026

  15. Design conversation formats, determine suitable spaces, promote and market the events and produce reports

  16. Mobile Community Services

  17. Coordinate two mobile service sessions within the project time frame where service providers gather in accessible community locations

  18. Support outreach to communities where individuals require information about services and support

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in community development, social work, settlement services, arts and culture, or a related field
  • Experience coordinating community programs, events, or engagement initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including newcomers, youth, seniors, and long-time residents
  • Strong relationship-building, facilitation, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple partners and stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple activities concurrently
  • Comfortable working independently in a part-time role

  • Other Position Particulars:

  • This position is Part Time-20 hours per week and works locally and jointly with the Foothills Local Immigration Partnership (FLIP) coordinator and working groups and under the direction of the Okotoks FCIS Office

  • A driver's license and vehicle are required
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Must have a valid Criminal Record Check report
