Full Job Description

BrightCare Home Healthcare Services Inc. is committed to providing compassionate, quality, and client-centered care to seniors and individuals with complex medical needs in Edmonton and the surrounding areas.

Using a hybrid model of care, we ensure that clients who have difficulty leaving their homes can still access comprehensive resources and support. Our LPNs play a key role in helping clients age safely and comfortably in their own homes.

You will work in home and community care settings, collaborating closely with the BrightCare team to connect clients with appropriate interdisciplinary team members and community resources. Using sound judgment and initiative, you will carry out a variety of nursing duties to ensure the highest standard of patient care and comfort.

This particular role focuses on light personal care support in a client's home, ensuring their daily comfort, dignity, and safety.

Qualifications

  • Active registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Alberta.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification (required).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Positive approach to teamwork and working with families.
  • Experience with elderly and/or individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required

Experience

Candidates should have:

  • Previous experience in nursing home settings or hospitals is preferred.
  • Familiarity with acute care, dementia care, pediatrics, home care, senior care, hospice care, or laboratory experience is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in medication administration and understanding of medical terminology.

Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Practical Nurse, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing direct patient care and support to individuals in their homes, nursing homes, or assisted living facilities.
  • Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Assisting with the safe and hygienic emptying, disposal, and cleaning of the bedside urinal in accordance with infection prevention and control standards.
  • Assisting with daily living activities for patients, including personal hygiene and mobility support.
  • Bringing already prepared meals from downstairs or the fridge to support timely medication use.
  • Helping the client get to the bathroom safely.
  • Maintaining accurate patient
  • Offering emotional support and education to patients and their families regarding health conditions and treatments.
  • Engaging in pain management strategies and case management for patients requiring specialized care.
  • Provide safe, high-quality nursing. care in home and community settings.
  • Support clients with chronic or complex needs to remain safely at home.
  • Document care accurately and maintain confidentiality.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, families, and the BrightCare team.
