Southbridge Health Care LP owns and operates several long-term care and retirement Homes throughout many urban and rural areas of Ontario. We are currently seeking an IT Support Specialist. The IT Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical assistance and support to end users, ensuring the efficient operation of computer systems, software, and hardware. This role involves troubleshooting technical issues, maintaining IT equipment, and delivering excellent customer service to support daily business operations.
This is a full-time position based in a professional office environment. Standard IT operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with varying shift schedules. Occasional overtime may be required during peak periods, as well as after-hours or on-call support.
The role involves prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer. The employee must be able to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative, and team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide first- and second-level technical support to users via phone, email, and in person.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and system issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals.
- Set up and manage user accounts, permissions, and access in accordance with IT policies.
- Document incidents, solutions, and procedures in the ticketing system.
- Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff or external vendors as required.
- Perform routine system maintenance, updates, and patches.
- Support onboarding and offboarding of employees, including equipment setup and access provisioning.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, data protection, and best practices.
- Provide user training and guidance on IT systems and tools.
- Identify trends in reported issues and recommend solutions to reduce recurring problems.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures.
- Participate in the planning and deployment of IT projects as needed.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1–3 years of experience in an IT support or help desk role
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and basic networking concepts
- Experience with ticketing systems and remote support tools
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
