OVERVIEW
The Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring printing presses to produce high-quality finished products. This role includes preparing materials, adjusting press settings, performing quality checks, and ensuring production schedules are met. The Press Operator also maintains equipment, troubleshoots minor issues, and follows all company safety and quality standards to support efficient pressroom operations.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow all plant and corporate safety rules, procedures, and guidelines; promptly report any safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment and area by completing daily housekeeping assignments.
- Gather/verify print Sleeves, anilox rollers, substrate material, inks, cores, other supplies required for job
- Operates press to produce product in accordance with customer specifications while maintain data gathering metrics for quality, waste, and press efficiency.
- Responsible for completing all required color and quality checks related to product specifications, visual, and functional checks.
- Responsible for completing all related procedures, work instructions, and quality measurements as outlined in the RPL standards.
- Performs operator level scheduled preventative and unscheduled maintenance of press which can include: cleans plate, sleeves, doctor blade chambers, change doctor blades.
- Complies with established facility safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- 1 to 5 years of flexographic printing press operator experience and/or training.
- Knowledge of Flexographic Presses
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and understand job orders and specifications.
- Knowledge of printing materials, inks, and substrates.
- Familiarity with the principles of color management and ink mixing.
- Excellent attention to detail and quality control.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Physical ability to lift and move materials as needed.
