  • Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario

  • Relevant experience, knowledge, and clinical skills in the provision of evidence-based occupational therapy practice in the management of infants, children, adolescents (and their families)

  • Minimum of three (3) years recent, relevant clinical experience in a tertiary pediatric ambulatory setting

  • Experience with pediatric feeding and swallowing assessment and treatment preferred.

  • Well-developed knowledge of the role of occupational therapy services, and other disciplines along the continuum of care

  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant community services and children's treatment facilities

  • Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast paced environment

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Self-directed and flexible practitioner with well-developed critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage a caseload of patients to ensure optimal patient care and access to service.

  • Commitment to quality improvement identification and implementation

The Occupational Therapist (OT) will apply their clinical expertise of pediatric disease processes and related complex medical conditions. The OT will work with the interdisciplinary team to support and promote quality comprehensive care and follow-up to children to maximize their occupational performance (self-care, productivity and leisure) in order to facilitate discharge, community integration and functional adaptation. As a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, this role entails close liaison and communication with team members in the PCCU, including the facilitation and coordination of community services and supports.

The unit provides specialized care to complex, surgical, oncology, orthopedic, trauma and medical patient populations utilizing an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach.
