About the Role

The Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for performing predictive and preventative maintenance on plastic extrusion machinery, equipment, and machine shop tools to ensure machine availability and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Perform predictive and preventative maintenance on plastic extrusion machinery, equipment, and machine shop tools to ensure machine availability and reliability.
  • Conduct routine and preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Identify and diagnose equipment malfunctions, ensuring that all control and safety mechanisms are functional and compliant.
  • Engage with OEM support and other regulatory bodies like TSSA for modification of existing machines and new equipment installation commissioning and startup.
  • Assist with procurement and inventory management, including ordering necessary parts, equipment, and maintenance supplies, while maintaining critical spare components.
  • Perform both scheduled and emergency repairs, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
  • Interpret and apply technical manuals, schematics, and work orders to conduct maintenance and servicing effectively.
  • Maintain detailed records of performed tasks using CMMS systems and ESA logbooks.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair simple control networks within the manufacturing facility.
  • Perform additional repair/maintenance-related tasks as required to support facility operations.
  • Operate cutting or welding equipment to cut or weld for any modifications.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support operational efficiency and maintain safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Vocational training or an associate degree in the field of industrial maintenance technology or mechanical engineering technology and technical certification in maintenance or a related field.
  • Mechanical engineering Degree & P. Eng Certification will be an asset.
  • Experience in equipment maintenance, assembly, installation, and maintenance of foam industry/foam extruders will be preferred.

Required Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC and control systems.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing maintenance processes, quality standards, and safety interlock requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good physical condition and the ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and repair.
  • Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) operation.
  • Welding and soldering techniques.
  • Blueprint reading and interpretation.
  • Use of diagnostic testing equipment.
  • Strong MS Office, ERP and other e-tools skills.
